Abstract
SIBAYAN, PATRICIA GRACE D. (2023) Growth and Yield of Garlic (Allium sativum L.) using Small Outer Cloves Treated with Combined Fertilizers. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Major in Crop Science). Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, College of Agriculture, Sapilang Bacnotan, La Union. Adviser: Watson, Christian Jay P. Ilocos white is recommended by the Department of Agriculture due to its resistance to pests and diseases, good keeping quality, early maturity, and yield potential. Hence, this study aimed to assess the response of small outer cloves (Garlic var. Ilocos White) using combined commercial and biofertilizers on the growth and yield of garlic. The study was conducted at DMMMSU-NLUC, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union from November 13, 2021 to February 22, 2022. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replicates and the comparison. Post-hoc analysis used was Least Significane Difference (LSD) at 5% level of significance. Based on the findings, garlic applied with mykovam and vermicompost (T4) has the highest survival rate (82.67%), widest leaves (1.0 cm), most number of leaves (7.47), maximum plant height (52.73cm) , widest bulb diameter (32.13 cm), most number of cloves per bulb (19.40), and the heaviest fresh (8.87 tons/ha) and dry (6.12 tons/ha) weight, but comparable to all fertilizer treatments in terms of plant height, leaf length, bulb diameter, and number of cloves per bulb. Moreover, garlic applied commercial fertilizer based on the Recommended rate (T1) had the shortest length of days of emergence comparable to garlic applied with 50% RR and mykovam (T2).
