The Flue Curing Machine for Small-Scale Tobacco Farmers was developed to enhance the traditional tobacco drying process by introducing a more efficient and controlled method. The study utilized both developmental and applied research designs to conceptualize, construct, and evaluate the performance of the machine. It was designed based on practical considerations for small-scale use and was built with locally sourced materials. The machine was subjected to multiple testing phases to assess its capabilities in maintaining consistent temperature, managing humidity, and ensuring efficient drying time. During the trials, components such as the induction heater, power supply, temperature sensor, and internal fans were identified as essential to achieving optimal curing conditions. The final trial, which involved curing five kilograms of large "batek" tobacco leaves over a period of seven days plus a rest day, resulted in a successful moisture reduction of 88.6%, reaching an ideal final humidity of 11.4%. The system was validated by representatives from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the National Tobacco Administration (NTA) at DMMMSU-MLUC, confirming its effectiveness and reliability for small-scale tobacco processing.
