Butterfly pea is a perennial leguminous herb that attracted significant interest based on its agricultural and medical applications. Hence, this study was conducted to evaluate the agronomic, morphological and phytochemical content of four butterfly pea accessions from selected municipalities of La Union. The agronomic and morphological characterization was conducted at Brgy. Caculangan, San Juan, La Union while the phytochemical analysis was conducted at Crop Breeding and Genetic Resources Laboratory from March to May 2024. The study was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four accessions of butterfly pea replicated three times. Based on the findings, strong violet single-layered petal has the longest seeds (6.82mm), widest seeds (4.78mm), longest pods (9.58cm), highest number of seeds per pod (8.03) while strong violet double-layered petal has the widest pods (1.06cm). Light purple single layered petal has the highest number of pods per plant (187) and white single-layered petal produced the heaviest seed weight (4.46g). Seed color ranged from moderate yellowish brown to black color. Seed shapes included flattened ovoid, rhomboid, and reniform. Flower colors varied according to the Royal Horticultural Society color chart. Saponins, tanin and flavonoid were present across all accessions. No alkaloids were detected.
