dc.description.abstractThe economic potential of dragon fruit is bright for it commands a very high price in the local market. However, due to its sudden popularity, technology on fertilization is lacking. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the best rate of ammonium phosphate (A0 – control, A1- 10 grams, A2- 15 grams, A3- 20 grams) on the vegetative growth of newly established dragon fruit cactus plantation employing the RCBD in four blocks at DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union from June 2, 2011 to October 15, 2012. Based on the results of the study, application of ammonium phosphate at 1015 g per post of 8 rooted cactus at 15 days interval up to 3 months significantly affected the number of lateral, survival rate, stem and secondary shoots were noted. Comparable results were found on length of main stem, stem circumference, length of segments and number of segments.
