Abstract
Large portion of the operating expenses in pig production goes to feeds consequently the need to look for an alternative source of feed as substitute. One potential feed for pigs is Trichantera. Hence this study was conducted to determine the performance of 12 grower-finisher pigs fed with 5% trichantera silage and pure commercial feeds (control). It was conducted at the Piggery Project of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan La Union from July 30 to September 30, 2011. Twelve growers were distributed into two treatments with 6 pigs per treatment.
The result of the study showed that trichantera silage as feed substitute for growing-finishing pigs did not cause significant variation in terms of final weight, gain in weight, average daily gain in weight, feed conversion efficiency and profit above feed, medicine, stock and feed substitute.
