| dc.description.abstract | This study evaluated the impact of Sargassum spp. extract supplementation in broiler drinking water on growth performance, carcass traits, meat quality, and profitability. Twenty-five Cobb broiler chicks were randomly assigned to five treatments: plain water (negative control), antibiotic growth promoter (positive control), and three levels of Sargassum extract (1%, 2%, and 3%). A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, and data were analyzed with ANOVA and Tukey’s HSD. Results showed no significant differences (p > 0.05) in final weight, net weight gain, average daily gain, or feed conversion ratio. Although T3 (3% extract) had the highest final weight (1760g) and dressing rate (78.19%), profitability decreased due to higher supplementation costs. Sensory evaluation revealed no significant differences in color, texture, aroma, or taste, but tenderness varied significantly across treatments. Overall, while Sargassum extract showed slight improvements in carcass traits and acceptability, it did not significantly improve broiler performance or profitability compared to antibiotic growth promoters. | |
