dc.description.abstractThis study was conducted to document the management practices and marketing system of native chicken in the 1st District of La Union. Most of the respondents/ raisers belong to farming family with an average family size of 4.61, and mean age of 51.48. Majority finished high school education with an average monthly income of Php4,472.50. The mother of the family mostly does the activities in raising native chicken. Majority of the respondents raised native chicken under range system, with the provision of pen/ housing made of bamboo. Domestic discards were mostly fed to native chicken, twice a day applying wet feeding system. Coryza was the common poultry disease but Avian Pest was the most common cause of death. Dead chickens were mostly buried. Native chickens were raised mainly for home consumption though the excess were sold to neighbors, sometimes in public market with a prevailing price of Php50-Php150.
