Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the status of utilization of the Department of Agriculture assisted rice combine harvesters to the cooperatives in the 1st District of La Union. Specifically, to determine the hours of utilization per year; number of hectares harvested per year; number of land owners/ farmers serviced per year; savings of farmer from using the combine harvester; and the cost of repair and maintenance undertaken in the machine. The three (3) cooperatives in the municipalities of Balaoan, Bacnotan and Bangar were taken as respondents in the gathering of data. Quantitative approach was implemented to generate the results of the study. The results revealed that the municipality of Bacnotan has the highest number of utilization per year at 880hr/year. Also, it has the largest area harvested of 420.72 ha/yr. The highest number of farmers/landowners that has been serviced is in the municipality of Bangar of 959 farmers/year. The highest savings from using the combine harvester compared to manual is in the municipality of Bangar of Php 1,858,395.00. The highest cost of repair and maintenance of Php 184,400/yr is the municipality of Bacnotan.
