Abstract
The design and development of a single-row onion harvester is a machine designed to harvest onion, which will help small local onion farmers improve their harvesting process. It aims to create a mechanized harvester for onions to address the issues brought by manual harvesting such as ergonomic problems, labor intensity, and time constraints. The researchers conceptualized and designed the single-row onion harvester that was lated developed by using developmental research design as their approach. It was conceptualized and planned at DMMMSU-MLUC, and it was be fabricated at Aringay, Bauang, La Union. Its performance was tested and evaluated through ten trials to determine the harvesting efficiency, capacity, and fuel consumption per unit area. The machine’s harvesting efficiency was tested in both wet and dry conditions. The design and development of single-row onion harvester aimed to bring advancement to agricultural sustainability, developing an accessible and healthier approach to harvesting.
