Abstract
The sudden acceptance and popularity of dragon fruit among consumers and producers created technology gaps along plantation establishments and production. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the best rate of urea (R0-control, R1-25 grams, R2-50 grams, R3-75 grams, R4-100 grams) on some of the agronomic characteristics of newly established dragon fruit cactus plantation employing the RCBD in three blocks. The study was conducted from June 28, 2011 to January 7, 2012 at DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union.
Based on the findings of the study, the height and length of secondary shoots were significantly affected by different rates of urea fertilization. Comparable results were noted on survival rate, circumference of the stem, number and length of segments, number of secondary shoots and number of side shoots per plant of the dragon fruit cactus.
