Abstract
It is unavoidable in a workplace to establish relationships among employees. This
study sought to determine the relationship between categories of relationship (ibang tao
vs. hindi ibang tao) and personal effectiveness. Descriptive correlational research design
was used in the study with 21 employees of BFAR RFO-1 sampled purposively. The
constructed questionnaire gathered data about their profile and the category of
relationship to which their co-workers belong as perceived by the respondents. The
ROPELOC Instrument was adopted and translated in Filipino to gather data on personal
effectiveness. Statistical analyses revealed that majority of the respondents viewed their
co-workers as hindi ibang tao to them and that they were comfortable with each other's
company. They were also high in personal effectiveness. Using chi-square test and coefficient, results indicated a significant, strong relationship between categories of
relationship and personal effectiveness, (X2=9.975, C=.567, p=<.01). Thus, the
respondents who viewed their co-workers as hindi ibang tao tend to be more personally
effective. This implies that categories of relationship is a factor in determining personal
effectiveness.
