dc.description.abstractThe high cost of feeds is one of the most important problems confronting broiler production; hence, the need to explore alternative and locally available resource is an utmost importance. One of such resources is locally available feedstuffs (rice bran, rice middling, sapal and corn grits). The study was conducted at Bitalag, Bacnotan, La Union from March 1, 2017 to April 5, 2017 to determine the performance of broilers fed with locally available feedstuffs (rice bran, rice middling, sapal and corn grits) as feed extender; specifically, to determine the best locally available feedstuffs (rice bran, rice middling, sapal and corn grits) that could enhance the growth of broilers; and to determine the profit above feed, medicine and stock cost. Using the RCBD in three blocks, sixty two weeks old broilers were distributed randomly into four treatments. Based on the results of the study, the use of locally available feedstuffs did not cause significant variation on the performance of broilers in terms of final weight, feed consumption, cost of feed to produce a kilogram weight gain and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost. However significant differences were noted in the gain in weight and feed conversion ratio.
