| dc.description.abstract | The Philippines produces eleven (11) million tons of rice straw each year. In order to help address the waste disposal problems of rice straw, a rice straw baler must be developed. This study was conducted to develop and evaluate the performance of a Rice Straw Baler. It also aimed to conduct a simple cost analysis of the machine. Three treatments were employed: T1- 600 rpm, T2- 800 rpm, and T3- 1000 rpm of the baling mechanism. Five (5) kg of rice straw were used as test material for each of the trials. T2 has the highest bulk density of 131,96 kg/m3, highest output capacity of 16.87 bales/hr, and highest efficiency of 87.04%. Futhermore, the Breakeven Point (BEP) is 2775.117 bales/yr, a Payback Period (PBP) of 75 productive days, and Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) of 1.09, showing that the project is acceptable using this treatment. | |
