dc.description.abstractConsumer preferences significantly impact the demand for salt in the market. This study was conducted to the profile of the respondents in household and food establishment, preferences of consumers between solar salt and traditional salt, factors influencing consumer choices between solar salt and traditional salt, actionable insights for salt producers to better meet the demands of consumers based on their salt preferences. The data were gathered through personal interviews with a survey questionnaire with 100 household respondents and 100 food establishments respondents from the five municipalities of coastal areas of District 1 in La Union. Taste is paramount, focusing on flavor enhancement and saltiness levels, while texture is important for perceived quality. Health concerns, especially sodium content, drive a shift towards healthier options. Cooking habits and price are factors, with consumers seeking a balance between affordability and quality. The study recommends an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) material that tackles the preferences of the coastal areas of District 1 in La Union. It could serve as a baseline for future researchers who wish to delve about the demand of salt of consumers.
