Abstract
The use of natural inputs such as seaweed tea, Lactobacillus, and Vermi tea or
Vermi compost had been found beneficial in some crops. Thus, this study on the
performance of two Mungbean varieties (Pag-asa 7 and Pag-asa 21) to different kinds of
organic fertilizer was conducted. The treatments used were no application, BSR (Urea),
seaweeds tea, Manure tea, Vermi Tea, LABS (Lactic Acid Bacteria Serum), Vermi
compost and Commercial Foliar Fertilizer employing the split plot technique arranged in
RCBD factorial with three blocks and each blocks was sub-divided with eight sub-plots.
The experiment was conducted at Calungbuyan, Balaoan, La Union from November 2015
to February 2016.
Result of the study revealed that Pag-asa 21 and Pag-asa 7 has comparable
performance in terms growth and yield.
The foliar fertilizers have comparable effect on growth and yield except on the percent germination wherein a significantly lower percent germination on seeds soaked and sprayed with foliar fertilizers (31-47%) was obtained when compared to percent
germination (80-90%) of plants with no fertilizers, BSR and Vermi Compost applied
plants.
The best interaction effect were found on the Pag-asa 21 treated with commercial
foliar fertilizer and Pag-asa 7 that was treated with seaweeds tea and vermi tea.
