Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the socio-demographic and farm profile of the respondents, the level of farmers' awareness in availing rice crop insurance, the level of satisfaction with the availment, problems, and challenges encountered by the farmers, information, education, and communication (IEC) materials. The data has 100 respondents; the data were analyzed using different statistical tools such as frequency counts, weighted mean, mode, percentage, and descriptive ratings. The data was gathered from the Municipality of Santol La, Union farmers.
The findings reveal that most respondents knew the deadline for reporting crop loss. Furthermore, the study indicates that 100 respondents were moderately satisfied with the indemnity they have received. Further, common problems encountered by the farmers in availing of rice crop insurance were delays in receiving indemnity and insufficient amounts to cover the damages. The information, education, and communication (IEC) output for farmers in the selected barangays of Santol, La Union, regarding the rice crop insurance program aims to provide comprehensive information to encourage farmers.
