Propagation of Bougainvillea (Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd) Semi-hardwood Cuttings Using Alternative Rooting Hormones, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Major in Crop Science). Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus, College of Agriculture, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union. Adviser: Amoyen, Julius Caesar M., M. S. The propagation of bougainvillea through semi-hardwood cuttings is a common practice to rapidly and efficiently produce new plants. However, the success of this propagation method is often dependent on the application of synthetic rooting hormones, which can be costly and may have adverse effects on the environment. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the effect of alternative rooting hormones on the rooting and survival of three varieties of bougainvillea at Sto. Domingo Norte, Luna La Union from April to June 2022, following the strip plot in randomized complete block design with three blocks. Treatments used were 𝑇0- No rooting hormone (Control), 𝑇1-Honey, 𝑇2- Coconut water, 𝑇3- Aloe vera gel, and the varieties were 𝑉1- Pink, 𝑉2- Purple, and 𝑉3- Pink. Results showed that aloe vera gel-treated cuttings have a significantly higher number of roots per cuttings. No significant differences were observed on the days to root emergence, length of the longest roots, number of leaves per cutting, and percentage survival. The three bougainvillea varieties were comparable in all parameters except for the size of roots, whereas the orange variety has significantly longer roots.
