Abstract
Foliar fertilization is the most efficient way to increase plant growth and
yield. The study aims to evaluate the response of pechay to foliar fertilizer
supplements to vermicompost. This study was conducted from November 6, 2015
to December 21, 2015 at Barangay Patpata, Balaoan, La Union. The treatments
were; T0-No Fertilizer Application, T1-Crop Recommendation, T2-
Vermicopmpost+Commercial Foliar Fertilizer, T3-Vermicompost+Fermented
Plant Juice, T4-Vermicompost+Vermi Tea and T5-Vermicompost+Sargassum Tea.
Plant height at 15 and 25 DAT was significantly increased by application
of Crop Recommendation (2tbsp of 46-0-0/gallon of water as starter:1tbsp 21-0-0
sidedressed per plant) and Vermicompost + foliar fertilizers. Supplementation of
Vermicompost+Commercial Foliar Fertilizer or Sargassum Tea and Crop
Recommendation comparably obtained the largest leaf area. The number of
leaves, biomass, leaf yield/plant and plot were likewise comparable among plants
applied with crop recommendation and foliar fertilizer supplements.
Among the foliar fertilizer supplements, Vermi Tea application was the
most profitable.
