dc.description.abstractThis study was undertaken primarily to survey the status of coffee industry in La Union, Philippines focusing on the production, existing postharvest tools and machineries and marketing channels in La Union. This paper determined the status of postharvest handling of coffee in La Union; document the postharvest practices (primary and secondary) of coffee; identified marketing channels of coffee industry in La Union and geomap the coffee production site. Data were obtained through distribution of questionnaires to eight municipalities where coffee are grown and analyzed using descriptive method of research. Result showed that La Union has 19.6176 hectares of coffee production with 8,884 productive trees producing 0.80 tons of coffee bean per year. The major source of seedling was sponsored by the government and wildlings that cultivate their own land. In postharvest practices, all the coffee growers practice manual method with no mechanized tools. In marketing, municipalities of Santol and Rosario supplies and trade coffee in La Union and other municipalities used coffee for their own consumption.
