Abstract
Due to an increasing cost of medicine, researchers are looking for cheap and as substitute to commercial antibiotics. This study was conducted on November 27, 2013 to January 01, 2014 to determine the performance of broilers using different levels of lemon grass extract (5ml, 10 ml, 15 ml, and 20 ml) as substitute to commercial antibiotics. Seventy five day old chicks were distributed in five treatments in three blocks using Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD).
Result of the study, birds supplemented with 15 to 20 ml of lemon grass extract per liter of water consumed comparable amount of feeds as the birds in the control. Lower feed consumption was observed in birds with lower levels of lemon grass extract. In other parameters, birds in all treatments performed comparably.
