Abstract
This study on water buffalo bulls as semen donor for Artificial Insemination aimed to determine the (a) testicular morphometry (b) semen quality (c) sperm quality, and; (d) correlation between testicular morphometry and quality of ejaculated semen.
Testicular morphometry was done by manual manipulation on five water buffalo bulls and collection of semen through artificial vagina. The ejaculated semen was evaluated by CASA and NIS Elements.
Data gathered were reported as mean ± s.e.m. and was statistically analyzed by Correlational Test.
The mean scrotal circumference was 29.40 cm, testicular length at 21.16 cm, testicular width at 10.53 cm and 8.90 cm testicular height. Ejaculated semen was 1.26 ml, white-cream color, thick, ph at 6.96, sperm concentration at 3.5 billion with 90.12 percent motility, 73.06 percent progressive motility, 82.98 percent normality and 91.33 percent viability.
Relationship subsisted between scrotal circumference and normality (p> 0.05), testicular width between normality and viability (p< 0.05).
