Abstract
This study aimed to design, fabricate, and evaluate the performance of the ginger washer. The machine’s performance was evaluated with the following parameters: washing capacity and washing efficiency.
The research design used was Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and three replications. The treatments used are the speed of the washer ranging from 17 to19 rpm, 25 to 30 rpm, and 21 to 24 rpm. The Statistical Tool for Agricultural Research (STAR) was used to analyze the data and Tukey's Honest Significant Difference (THSD) to test the significant difference between treatments.
The results of the analysis revealed that the capacity of the machine is 108.81 kg/hr and the washing efficiency was 82.22%. The investment cost of the machine was ₱28,977.00. The economic analysis revealed that the investment cost could be recovered in 3.7 years with a break-even point of 285.51 kg/year.
