One way of reducing the cost of feed in broiler raising is to use local feedstuff like banana peduncle. It is a potential source of feed for broilers as feed extender. This study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers fed with banana peduncle meal (5%, 10%, and 15%) as feed extender and to determine the profitability of using banana peduncle meal in broiler ration. It was conducted on November 24, 2015 to December 28, 2015 at Brgy. Rizal, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. Sixty, 14 days old broiler chicks were randomly distributed into four treatments with three blocks following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Birds fed with 5% - 10% banana peduncle meal performed comparably with the birds fed with pure commercial feeds(BSM) in terms of initial weight, final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, dressing percentage and profit above feed ,medicine, and stock cost .
