| dc.description.abstract | Mulberry leaf production is an integral part of the sericulture industry and the success of silkworm rearing is dependent on the sustainability of its supply. Understanding the seasonal occurrence of foliar diseases is important for better management and to ensure high and quality leaf yield. Thus, a surveillance of prevailing foliar diseases of the OPV mulberry during the dry season (March 1, 2024 to April 26, 2024) was conducted at the Mulberry Production Site of the Sericulture Research and Development Institute to determine and identify the foliar fungal disease based on the symptomology and assess disease incidence and severity. 60 sample plants from each variety were tagged and were monitored monthly. Based on the symptoms, the foliar fungal diseases were identified as Leaf blight and Cescorpora Leaf spot. Alf-058 exhibited the highest disease incidence and severity while H2 has the lowest. The result suggests that there is varietal difference in terms of their response to leaf blight and cercospora leaf spot. | |
