Choosing the right variety is important in increasing ampalaya production. Hence, a study on the characteristics of ampalaya hybrids such as Sta. Rita Strains, Maharlika, Makiling, Jadestar L., and Galaxy, was conducted to determine the agronomic and yielding characteristics of the different ampalaya hybrids under DMMMSU condition during the wet season. It employed the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) at the Seed Production farm of the DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union from June 9 to September 9, 2006. Based on the findings of the study, Maharlika and Sta. Rita varieties significantly produced the highest fruit yield with a mean of 55.24 kg/plot or 7671.75 kg/ha and longest fruits with a mean of 30.18 cm, number of harvested fruits with a mean of 481 and number of branches with a mean of 6.33. There were no significant variations obtained on plant height, number of days to harvest, percent survival, and number of branches.
