    Difficulties of DMMMSU-SLUC college of education BSE II gen sci majors in chemistry I (Inorganic chemistry)

    This study was conducted to determine the particular area/s in Chemist I (Inorganic Chemistry) to the BSE II General Science Students of DMMMSU-SLUC. College of Education find difficulties during the school year 2003-2004. The major findings of the study were the following: 1. Most of the subjects are 18 years of :lg(.~and only few belong to the age bracket of 19-20. As to sex, almost all the subjects are female and graduated from a public high school. The family monthly income of the subjects ranges from below C,OOOI 1600. 2. The study revealed that the students perform best in the four areas wherein their level of knowledge is described as high namely Introduction to Inorganic Chemistry (I). Matter and Changes (area 11), Periodic Table (area IV) and Chemical Formulas and Equations (area VI) while moderate in the areas like area III which is Atomic Constitution of Matter, area V Chemical Bonding and area VII which is Stoichiometry. Finally, the students seem to find difficulty ill the two last areas which are area VIII Solutions and area IX Gas Law wherein their level of knowledge is described as low.
