Oregano (Oreganum vulgare lin) leaf extract as drinking water supplement for Broilers

The high cost of commercial feeds and medicine is the major problem encountered by poultry raisers. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers supplemented with varying level Oregano Leaf Extract (20, 25, 30, and 35ml) in the drinking water. This was conducted at Calungbuyan, Balaoan, La Union from March 14, 2017 to April 18, 2017. Using Randomized Complete Block Design, a total of seventy five day old chicks were randomly distributed into five treatments with three blocks. Result of the study revealed that birds supplemented with 20ml to 35ml of oregano leaf extract in the drinking water had a comparable performance with those birds given with plain water in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and profit.
