Response of glutinous corn intercropped with bush sitao to frequency of lactic acid bacteria serym application
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2013-03) Tubaang, Mary Gyle S.
Intercropping corn with leguminous crops like bush sitao is an old practice of farmers especially in South East Asia. However, fertilizer supplement like the use of Lactic Acid Bacteria Serum (LABS) in corn and legume intercrop has not yet been fully investigated. This study was conducted to find out the best frequency of applying lactic acid bacteria serum (T1 – Control (no fertilization), T2 – 40 kg N/ha (BSR), T3 – 2x a week LABS application, and T4 – 3x a week LABS application) on the growth and yield of glutinous corn intercropped with bush sitao. The study was conducted at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union from November 2012 to January 2013 using RCBD with in four blocks. Results disclosed that application of lactic acid bacteria serum (LABS) to glutinous corn intercropped with bush sitao had no significant influence on the number of days to flowering, and maturity plant height at 45 days and at maturity, length and circumference of corn ears, fresh weight of unhusked and husked green
