Levels of probiotic for growing/finishing pigs

Literature states that addition of probiotics in feed for swine shows a great potential in reducing stress and act as natural growth promoters. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the effect of different levels (T0 – control, T1 – 200 ppm probiotic, T2 – 225 ppm probiotic T3 – 250 ppm probiotic) of probiotics on the performance of growing-finishing hogs from August 15 to November 25, 2006 at the Piggery Project of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union. The results showed that levels of Probiotic did not cause any significant variation on growing/finishing pigs in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency, incidence of diarrhea and profit above feed, medicine, probiotic and stock cost.
