Item Development and evaluation of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) peel laundry starch(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus, 2023-05) Hidalgo, Jan Russ Jeuns D.; Javier, Jasmine Nicole P.; Lorenzo, Josephine N.; Tatunay, Jove Ann M.; Nonan, Reicheleiu M.; Tatunay, Vernalyn M.; Tumbaga, Elizabeth B.; Cabanban, Maybel S.; Palabay, Victorio C.; Corpuz, Florentina A.; Corpuz, Juanito C.Starch makes clothes stiff by adding hold to clothing, creating a crisp, professional finish. Starch adds crispness and structure, providing body to cotton and linen. The study aimed to develop a laundry starch using Sweet Potato Peel, determine the volume of starch; determine the moisture content of the starch; determine the physical properties; determine the acceptability of sweet potato peel; determine the significant difference in terms of shininess and smoothness. The developmental-experimental-evaluative research design was used to determine the physical properties of sweet potato peel as laundry starch and was evaluated in terms of shininess and smoothness. With a 7.5 % starch recovery, the moisture content of the laundry starch is low, the tensile strength of cotton and linen fabrics becomes strong, spray laundry starch from sweet potato peel in terms of tensile strength and stiffness is acceptable, and there is a significant difference in terms of shininess and smoothness.
