It was conducted in the city of San Fernando, La Union. This study made use of the descriptive survey method and the questionnaire as a main tool in gathering the information needed. This focused on the profile of the respondents, status of the food cart businesses, and the level of awareness and practices of owners on sanitation and hygiene. There were 98 respondents from CSI Mall, Manna Mall, Night Market and schools, sidewalks and streets. Results of the study showed that most food carts business were sole proprietorship and sell handheld fried foods, and not franchise. Majority of the owners/handlers aged 26-30 years old, married, college graduate and full time in managing the business. They promoted/introduced their products using social media like Facebook, Instagram, and have an income of below 10,000 a day and had a positive return on investment. The overall rating on the level of awareness revealed a mean rating 4.83 with a descriptive equivalent rating of very much aware, while the extent of practices revealed an overall mean of 3.45. Hence, the need to formulate an intervention program to improve the food carts business operation.
