Publication Makahiya (Mimosa pudica l.) meal as feed substitute for broilers(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2013-03) Supsup, Juvanie C.Due to the costly feeds brought about by imported raw materials, poultry raisers have to look for locally available alternative source of feedstuff. Hence, this study on the different levels of makahiya meal (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) was conducted to determine the performance of broilers from November 17, 2012 to December 27, 2012 at the Poultry Project of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union. Seventy five-17-day-old broiler chicks were used in the study using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in 3 blocks. The different levels of makahiya meal as substitute to broiler starter ration did not show any significant effect on the final weight, gain in weight, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed and stock cost. However, the feed consumption was significantly reduced as the level increases.
