    Assessment of surf resorts in the municipality of San Juan, La Union: input to strategic plan

    The study aimed to assess the statues of Surf Resorts in San Juan as a basis of formulating strategic plan. It was conducted in four surf resorts of San Juan, La Union, namely : Kahuna Beach Resort, San Juan Surf Resort, Little Surfmaid, Sebay Resort and Hacienda Peters. As the study was descriptive in nature, data were gathered primarily through the use of questionnaire. Moreover, additional information was gathered through actual interview with the respondents. There were 167 respondents, Seventy three were from the administration and staff and 94 were the clients. Results of the study showed that most (60.27%) of the study were female and 58.51% of the clients were males. Common statues of employment is permanent. The age bracket was 16-25 for employees and 19-40 for clients. Majority were tourist and they stayed in the resorts for 1-3 days, they are fond of swimming. Their customers have different nationalities like Americans, Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, British, Danish and Lithuanians but majority were local tourists. The study revealed that inadequate recreational facilities was the most needed to be addressed as perceived by both on the administration, staff and clients. Difficulty of transportation services was the problem encountered by the employees. The surf resorts were singly owned and average number of years in service if it employees are less than five years. Based from the results of the study a strategic plan for the surf resorts in San Juan, La Union was formulated.
