Kangkong (Ipomoea aquatica forks) meal as feed supplement for growing-finishing pigs

Kangkong (Ipomea aquatica Forks) is a water marsh plant with creeping, hollow, water-filled stems and shiny green leaves which is an excellent source of minerals and vitamins. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the effects of kangkong meal (6%) as feed supplement on the performance of growing-finishing pigs. It was conducted at the DMMMSU Pig Extension and Research Farm, Baroro, Bacnotan, La Union from September 9, to December 9, 2011. Result of the study revealed that the performance of growing-finishing pigs fed with kangkong meal (6%) as feed supplement were comparable to those pigs fed with pure commercial feed in terms of final weight, gain in weight, average daily gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost.
