    Evaluation of existing shallow tubewells in the First District of La Union

    This study was carried out to evaluate the field performance of shallow tube well pump in terms of its capacity and efficiency, and to determine the effect of pumping groundwater on the drawdown of the aquifer. The study was conducted at Barangay Salincob, Bacnotan; Barangay Camiling, Balaoan; Barangay Tallaoen, Luna; Barangay Mameltac, San Fernando City; Barangay Talogtog, San Juan and Barangay Paagan, Santol, La Union from December 2008 to January 2009. The Different Well Locations were as follows: PW1 at Brgy. Salincob, Bacnotan, La Union PW2 at Brgy Talogtog, San Juan, La Union PW3 at Brgy. Paagan, Santol, La Union PW4 at Brgy. Mameltac, San Fernando City, La Union PW5 at Brgy. Tallaoen, Luna, La Union PW6 at Brgy. Camiling, Balaoan, La Union Calculated aquifer properties were analyzed using percentages and means. The evaluation results indicated that different locations of wells have different aquifer characteristics.
