Feeding schemes for growing finishing hogs (Large white landrace)
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University- North La Union Campus, 2007-03) Sagantiyok, Nilda D.
One possible way to reduce cost of producing finishing hogs is through devising potential feeding scheme. Hence, this study was conducted to evaluate the performance of growing / finishing pigs subjected to different feeding schemes (T1 – starter for 60 days; T2 – Grower for 30 days and finisher for 30 days; and T3 – Grower for 60 days.) Eighteen heads of 60 days old crossbred pigs were used in the study employing Covariance Analysis with three replications. This study was conducted at the Piggery Project of Don Mariano Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union from October 22, 2006 to December 22, 2006. The result of the study revealed that the different feeding schemes did not significantly affect the final weight, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency and profit above feeds, medicine and stock cost.
