High school students often struggle in grasping the different concepts about the environment. Nowadays, students often prefer to use technology to learn, making digital games a promising tool for education. LUNTIAN is a role playing game designed to raise awareness among high school students. LUNTIAN integrates real-world environmental issues into its gameplay such as deforestation, lack of greenery in cities, and wastes and toxic materials. LUNTIAN was developed using Unity game engine and guided by the Game Development Life Cycle. The game combined interactive gameplay with educational content to enhance both engagement and understanding of issues in the environment. A Game Experience Questionnaire was used to assess the playability of the game as well as the experience of the students while playing LUNTIAN. LUNTIAN demonstrated that gamification can enhance environmental awareness among students, combining entertainment and education to promote a much deeper understanding of climate issues through interactive gameplay.
