Profiling of material recovery facilities (mrfs) in the municipality of Balaoan, La Union

This study aimed to conduct profiling of the Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) in the municipality of Balaoan, La Union. A total of 300 respondents were taken as respondents which include the residents and barangay officials. Respondents were from the fourteen (14) selected barangays. Each barangay has its own MRF operating. Descriptive survey method of research was used through the aid of questionnaire and supported by interview and observation. Frequency counts, percentages, weighted means and grand means were used in the analysis of data. The research shows the role of the MRFs in the municipality particularly in addressing issues on solid waste management. Key words: solid wastes, Material Recovery Facility (MRF), waste management
