Publication Sources of stress among the students in the college of sciences DMMMSU Agoo in relation to identified variables(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus, 2000-10) Peralta, Riza S.; Pedeglorio, Juvy L.A person due to the different sources defines stress as a life signs experience. The main focus of this paper is the Sources of Stress correlated to course, age, and gender. The respondents of this study are the students of DMMMSU Agoo College of Sciences. The respondents were chosen through random sampling technique, where in there were 200 students who comprised the total sample. Through the used statistical treatment such as frequency distribution, weighted mean, and Kendall's Coefficient of Concordance the result were obtained, comparing the computed value to the tabulated value at alpha .05 level of significance. It had found out that, the course, age, and gender have no significant relationship with stress. The objectives of the study were enumerated as follows: 1. To determine the respondent's profile as to age, gender, course. 2. To determine the sources of stress among the students of the College of Sciences DMMMSU Agoo. 3. Determine the agreement between sources of stress among the students of the College of Sciences DMMMSU Agoo and the identified variables. Finding revealed the followings: As to the sources of stress among the students of the College of Sciences DMMMSU Agoo, there were three sources contributory to their ·stress. These are the physical, psychological, and behavioral source. In view of the aforementioned findings, it was therefore concluded that the identified variables such ages as, course, age, and gender are not significantly related to the sources of stress among the students enrolled in the college of Sciences. The conclusions of this study were stated below: 1. The course of the students does not affect the sources of stress that they encountered. Therefore, BS, Psycho, BS Bio and BS Math students have the same stresses. 2. The age of the students doe~ not affect the sources of stress. Therefore, whatever year age is, it is not necessary in identifying the stress causing factors that the individual encountered. 3. Gender is not related to the sources of stress. Therefore, male and female had the same sources of stress. This study gives the following recommendations: 1. The guidance counselor should make a move to reduce the psychological stressors among the students, so that they could concentrate more on their studies. 2. The students should participate more in guidance and counseling activities to bring about whatever problem they have whether it be academic or personal. 3. The counseling unit of the university should implement program, which will promote stress management among students.
