Socio-economic contributions of vinegar processing center of Galongen-Maragayap, Bacnotan, La Union
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus, 2024-05) Peralta, Maylene D.; Esto, Genevieve A.; Fabian, Angelicashe D.; Gonzales, Ma. Patricia S.; Paulo, Irene M.
The Vinegar Processing Center, initiated by the Galongen-Maragayap Fanners Association of Bacnotan, La Union Inc. and located in Maragayap, Bacnotan, La Union, was established in 2018, covering a total land area of 61.374 hectares. Its primary goal is to organize local livestock, integrated farming, and agro-forestry producers to enhance community development and improve living conditions through various facilities, services, and enterprises. This study delves into the project's socio-economic contributions to the beneficiaries. The study employed research-made survey questionnaires and documentary analysis to gather data from 10 project implementers and 26 beneficiaries. Using frequency and percentage analysis and a thorough review of relevant documents, the study found that the Vinegar Processing Center has positively contributed to its beneficiaries' social and economic well-being. Additionally, the implementers have implemented sustainability measures to ensure the project's continuous improvement and success. The study proposes a policy brief that assists project members in understanding waste segregation challenges and provides recommendations for effective waste management policies that are centered on the implementers.
