Growth and yield of green beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) as influenced by multipurpose tree species ectract foliar and planting distance between guyabano trees
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2023-05) Pascua, Mary Joy F.
The country has been facing crisis due to sudden inflation in the various food supply, including agricultural supply used by the farmers. The farmers are utilizing limited agricultural lands due to the continuous industrial development, which makes conversion of agricultural lands a practice in the country. Hence, the study was conducted at the Guyabano base site, of the College of Agroforestry and Forestry, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union from January 9, 2023 to March 8, 2023. The study was laid out following 3 x 5 factorial arrangement in Split-plot Design with three replications. The mainplot were: V1- Control with 90 hills; V2- Malunggay Extract with 90 hills; V3- Ipil-ipil Extract with 90 hills. The subplot were: T0- 15cm x 20cm with 54 hills; T1- 20cm x 20cm with 54 hills; T2- 25cm x 20cm with 54 hills; T3- 30cm x 20cm with 54 hills; T4- 35cm x 20cm with 54 hills. The 35cm x 20cm produced the highest yield per hectare. The increment in the height and crown diameter of the Guyabano trees also increased, indicating that green beans can be used as an intercrop with Guyabano trees using the different planting distance and multipurpose tree species extract foliar. The correlation of climatological data such as temperature, and relative humidity was found not significant with the yield of green beans.
