Effectiveness of strategic intervention materials in teaching chemistry
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus, 2015-04) Paneda, Edison C.
Development of highly competitive material is vital in attaining a culture of excellence geared towards the cognitive development of both teachers and students. This study which used the one-shot pretest/posttest experimental method of research determined the effectiveness of Strategic Intervention Materials in the performance of the respondents in terms of their grades in Chemistry VI, learning styles, conceptual understanding, scores in pretest/posttest and gain in scores. The respondents were the 28 Grade VIII students of Al Danah International School-Boys’ Section. To determine the level of conceptual understanding of the respondents, pretest, posttest, and strategic intervention materials were used. Frequency counts, means, and percentages were employed. T-test was used to compare the results of the pretest/posttest, and One-Way ANOVA to compare the gain in scores. The study showed that the respondents in Chemistry VII were at “Approaching Proficiency". With the used of the SIM, the respondents achieved Best Understanding.
