Effects of seedling age and number of seedling per hill of hybrid Rice "NCIS Rc132" (Oryza sativa l.) grown in Up-Uplas. Sudipen. La Union
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus, 2022-05) Padtoc, Milagros C.
seedlings and etc. encounter in the country is a proof that the need for rice sustainability will be an absolute concern in the future. This study identifies the effect of seedling age particularly the old seedling, and number of seedling per hill of hybrid rice to determine the growth and yield of hybrid rice as affected by seedling age; determine the effect of number of seedling on the growth and yield of hybrid rice; and determine the best seedling age and number of seedling per hill on the growth and yield of hybrid rice. Hence, the study was conducted from June 2022 to October 2022 at Up-uplas, Sudipen, La Union. The result revealed that different seedling age and different number of seedling per hill significantly affect the growth and yield of hybrid rice NSIC Rc 132. It shows highly significant result on the length of panicle, actual yield and total yield as affected by different seedling age. Furthermore, NSIC Rc 132 performed significant result on number of tillers, number of productive tillers and length of panicle and actual yield as affected by number of seedling per hill. While, highest net income was recorded by the interaction of 25 days seedling age and 4 seedlings per hill. The study suggests that improving growth and yield can be possible amid the problem of transplanting old seedling at increasing the number of seedling per hill.
