Seaweed meal and Ipil-ipil leaf meal as feed extender for broiler
    (2015-03) Ocampo, Armando B.
The high cost of commercial feeds prompted poultry raisers to look for the alternative source of feed ingredients such as seaweed meal and ipil-ipil leaf meal. The study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers fed with seaweed meal and ipil-ipil leaf meal from October 25, 2014 to November 29, 2014 at Barangay Bungol, Balaoan, La Union. A total of 105 14-day old broiler chicks were randomly distributed into seven treatments, following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in three blocks. The result of the study showed that the performance of birds fed with 5% seaweed meal, 5% ipil-ipil leaf meal and 2.5% seaweed meal + 2.5% ipil-ipil leaf meal were comparable to those fed with pure broiler starter mash in terms in final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed medicine and stock cost.
