Performance of local highland varieties of sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas l.] under lowland condition
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus, 2017-03) Maon, Dianne Marie G.
Sweet potato is one of the priority root crops as source of carbohydrates and considered as staple food as alternative for rice in our country. Identifying sweet potato varieties adapted to specific location for specific use is very important. The identification of high yielding sweet potato cultivars with good eating quality to be recommended for planting would mean more profit and expanded production. Hence, this study was conducted, to determine the most adaptable local highland sweet potato variety under lowland condition. (Swerte Variety, Gislayan Variety, Pakak Variety, Bokagan Variety, and Bengueta Variety,) from January 15, to May 4, 2017. RCBD in three blocks was employed. Based on the research finding, the Bengueta Variety was the most adaptable in the locality with a storage root yield of 5811.11 kg/ha.
