Psychological analysis of intrapersonal conflicts among post-millennials: basis for a self-help intervention program
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus, 2019-05) Mananquil, Darel V.
The post-millennials tend to be susceptible to experience intrapersonal conflicts; thus this study. Through purposive sampling, this study involved 267 first year college students with depressive tendencies. The Profile Questionnaire, Beck’s Depression Inventory, and Questionnaire on Intrapersonal Conflicts were used to gather data. The findings show that majority of the respondents experienced moderate depression, moderate levels in self-alienation and inferiority complex, and low levels in moral anxiety, role confusion, and existential crisis. The respondents dominantly experienced conflicts between wants and should, real and ideal self, and personal desires and parental expectations. They also felt bored and they perceived others were better than they were. Generally, they experienced moderate level in moral anxieties and self-alienation, and low level in other types of intrapersonal conflicts. Significant differences were only found in the level of moral anxieties and role confusion based on sex. From the findings, a self-help intervention program was crafted.
