(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - Mid La Union Campus, 2022-05) Hipona, Donna Flor R.; Baniwas, Berlyn L.; Dela Cruz, Jenny G.; Makil, Arianne T.; Paing, Aiza P.; SuplicaƱa, Jazmine Louise 0.; Camarao, Fely S.; Corpuz, Florentina A.; Tumbaga, Elizabeth B.; Palabay, Victorio C.
The study aimed to develop dyestuff from Guava Leaves applied to poplin and silk fabric. It aims to determine the color value of the dyestuff from the Guava Leaves; evaluate the colorfastness properties of the dyed cotton and silk fabric in terms of colorfastness to washing and sunlight; to determine the significant difference in colorfastness to washing and colorfastness to sunlight in terms of boiling time and mordant used. Descriptive and evaluative research design was used to determine the feasibility of guava leaves as a natural dyestuff and was evaluated in terms of colorfastness to sunlight and colorfastness to washing and boiling time. The results were: the poplin and silk fabric mordanted with alum garnered a light color while the poplin and silk fabric mordanted with copper sulfategarnered a dark color. Using alum and copper sulfate as mordant also boiling time used has different reactions and shades of color produced in poplin and silk fabric.
