Publication Stylistics analysis of Manuel Arguilla’s short stories(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus, 2023-05) Macaspac, Rhealyn T.; Alegre, Adonis S.; Baldoz, Maurine M.; Valdez, Kate Raven P.; Yaris, Azel N.; Ochoa, Christine A.; Ramirez, Elizabeth C.; Budeng, Rinarose B.; Merza, Hartwell Norman M.The study is a qualitative stylistic analysis of two selected short stories by Manuel Arguilla: “How My Brother Leon Brought Home a Wife” and “Rice.” It examines the literary devices used by the author and graphological deviations at the grammatical and lexical levels. The researchers employed stylistic analysis using the Leech and Short model. The study identified twenty literary devices and analyzed the use of punctuation, capitalization, contractions, parts of speech, phrases, and clauses. The findings emphasize Arguilla’s creative and descriptive use of language in reflecting Filipino culture and English literature.
