(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2016-03) Lubenaria, Jessie T.
The study aimed to assess the soil quality in the selected agricultural lands in Balaoan, La Union. Specifically, it aims to determine the a) profile of the respondents; b) level of awareness on the benefits derived from soil management practices; c) level of adoption of soil management practices; and d) degree of seriousness of problems met regarding soil quality. The study made use of the descriptive research method. It was conducted in five barangays. Results revealed that farmers in the municipality of Balaoan are mostly seasoned farmers with inadequate income for the family. They are much aware on the benefits derived from soil management, however, soil management practices were moderately adopted. Serious problems were encountered by farmers regarding soil quality. From these findings, an environmental management plan is proposed for possible adoption by the local government unit.
