Lemon grass (Cymbopogan citratus) decoction for broiler production
(Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, 2013-03) Leoderes, Samuel L.
The continuous rise in the cost of medicines such as antibiotics affects local broiler producers. Hence, this study on the use of lemon grass decoction (1%, 2%, and 3%) was conducted. Sixty broiler chicks were used and distributed in four treatments following RCBD in three blocks. The experiment was conducted at Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union from November 23, 2012 to December 27, 2012. Results revealed that birds with lemon grass decoction showed comparable performance in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, and feed conversion ratio. Further, birds with 20ml lemon grass decoction in their drinking water recorded the highest profit, above feed, medicine and stock cost. Birds without lemon grass decoction had significantly lower water consumption.
